Participated in the Scott Kelby World Wide Walk this morning. Met with members of the Electric City Photo Club and walked around downtown Anderson, SC. Got some good shots of old parts of the city. Kind of sad to see the dilapidation but good for photography. This is an old ledger that was in the old Anderson Hardware Store. It had dates from 1913. The store still has the shelves and lots of old stuff still there. I don't know when it closed--but I don't remember it has a child.

Goodbye Summer

Ronnie and I have enjoyed spending each evening this summer on our deck--just relaxing. I posted this shot at the beginning of the summer. I am reposting as I think about approaching cold weather. I love fall but hate winter. (Except for a day or 2 of snow.) In just a few short weeks the cold winds will blow and we will be indoors for 3-4 months. I need a new flag that says Good bye for now.

Ruins of Sheldon Church of Prince William Parish. Beaufort, South Carolina

The church was originally built in 1745 and 1755. It was burned during the Revolutionary War. The church was rebuilt in 1846 but again burned in on January 14, 1865 during the Civil War as part of Sherman's March to the Sea campaign. What an amazing piece of history in South Carolina and well worth a visit if you are in the lower part of the state.

A Wreck at The Wreck

While visiting Charleston Ronnie and I ate at a local "joint" called The Wreck. It wasn't much of a looker but the food was great! It is located near the mouth of Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant. I am so glad that spring is almost here. The dreary days of winter begin to weigh on my spirit. This week-end the 70 degree days gave me a chance to dust off my camera and lay on the ground to find some beautiful shots.

Snow in January--stayed on the ground for 5 or 6 days. Very unusual for the south. Glad it came and glad it's gone. I am ready for spring and some COLOR.

Ronnie and I spent Monday-Thursday this week at my parent's lake cottage. It was a relaxing time, except I had to go to school every day. But Ronnie cooked supper each night and we listened to the frogs and crickets, fished a little from the dock, and enjoyed the peace and quiet. I had a pretty busy week at school so it was a nice respite each evening.

Here is a bit of the legend as taken from Wikipedia: "There is a "Crybaby Bridge" on High Shoals Rd, just south of Anderson, SC. High Shoals Road crosses the Rocky River at the high shoals point. The bridge which crosses the river is known by locals as Cry Baby Bridge. The local legend (which is repeated in nearly every county in South Carolina) tells of a woman and her infant who died in a car crash off the bridge. By crossing the bridge halfway and repeating a chant, one can hear a baby cry, or a woman scream, or see a ghostly car pass. The story of Cry Baby Bridge has certainly reached urban legend status."

I love looking back through my files to find image in my archives. I always find a jewel that I didn't really see before. This is a beautiful farm in the Pennsylvania Amish country. Taken on our trip home after dropping Meredith off in New York--January 2007.

Red Bud--My Favorite

I love the red bud tree in my yard. Each year I watch in anticipation for the blooms. This red bud is at the Clemson Botanical Garden. I have never seen a tree bloom this way. I am not sure if it was pruned purposely to cause the blooms to be so close to the limb. No matter, it was very unusual and very lovely.

Wow--life has been really busy lately and I have neglected my posting. I am so glad for some warmer weather. It was so nice on the first day of Spring that Ronnie and I took the boat out for the first time. It was glorious.

A couple of Saturdays ago, we went on a quest for old SC dispensary bottles. We ended up in Donalds, SC at this quaint old farm--now owned by a couple originally from New York. She was also a photography buff and we talked and I wandered around taking pictures. I hope to go back int the Spring when flowers will be blooming.

Missed a Beauty

What an amazing week-end. But I missed it. Sick with a terrible cold, lost my voice,and felt horrible. I stayed inside and slept for most of it. So I found an old image that I might have shot if I could have gotten out this week-end. The green makes me feel better because I am tired of bare trees and brown grass. I am looking forward to the burst of color that spring will bring--very soon I hope.
